Plan your way around before it become a problem. My real success dealing with busy intersections is simple: don't make them in the first place. But to fix all this it would complicate the game so much that a whole new branch of commands and inputs would need to be added to compensate for this. Normally cars which need to go on a straight line always have priority on cars trying to turn or pass something but the way it work right now the only thing it really do is add more roads leading to the same destination, serving as a buffer to even the flow of traffic for a time. Roundabouts really suck in real life and they suck even more in this game due to the fact that the game don't seem to simulate the normal flow of traffic on roads. Even more successfully than roundabouts, really. Traffic lights work as intended in this game. That's exactly how a four way stop work in real life. If you have a four way intersection you'll notice that cars stop and let each other go in a first came first served basis. Buildings that spawn next to each other become instead bottlenecks, etc. Makes me wish they had a casual mode or just replace their game progression so that the player can build out nice cities, instead of clusters and cross map destinations with no room for any roads. When the circle is partially full, they do not enter, or they enter and cause cars in the circle to stop. The traffic in the circle should be steady so that it's easy to enter and easy to leave. You can see it when it is full, the cars waiting to get in do not enter until it clears, but that's not how it should work. Another thing about roundabouts is maybe the cars in the circle are going way too fast. Roundabouts have the same problem where if you have too much traffic, it doesn't do anything. That and the randomization of the game likes to make the player cross their paths and clustering of homes and buildings, leading to less opportunity for an intersection to be accompanied by a decent stretch of road with enough traffic in that specific intersection to use a traffic light. The stretch of road that was holding 4 or 5 cars is now overloaded and is causing traffic jams behind them. The problem with that is that it's not a long lasting solution as the game progresses. Traffic lights work when there is congestion on a 3 or 4-way intersection, with room to hold cars. I genuinely believe that the overpass would become a much loved and sought after piece which would solve many of the intersection issues that the traffic lights was originally designed to solve, and would complement the use of round-abouts.

(Of course an underpass could be used instead, and would function the exact same way.) The overpass can not be used over water, and the 1 tile space underneath would allow a road to pass through perpendicular to the overpass.

Simply a small bridge that is 3 tiles long, which can span over 1 tile of road underneath.

My suggestion is for traffic lights to be removed from the game and replaced with an overpass. I've played for about 9 hours, and I now almost never use lights, because they simply do not work as intended and round-abouts are simply better. I think it's safe to say however, that most people agree that the traffic lights rarely fix traffic problems and often actually make the traffic worse. I'm a big fan of Mini Metro and this game has not disappointed.
